Greetings and salutations ScriptUO.
I'll try to make this brief while hitting the "high's." Started playing UO on Napa Valley at the behest of a friend right after Trammel was introduced, when you still had to use moonstones to go between facets. Quickly discovered my friend was not a very good teacher and basically began digesting everything I could on stratics and UOPowergamers. Lost my account for posting on AskChopper.com, but I had gotten fairly involved in play discussion and general shenanigans with the UOUgly forum crowd.
The Mod decided to start a contest/guild on Baja - at that time AOL had some promotion with UO giving out free 30-day trial accounts. The idea was to create a "banable" type name(I went with "a giant poon") and NOT get banned after the 30-days. No one won, but since the guild leader had more 30-day trials most of us started back up again. The guild didn't last long as people moved onto DAoC, but I still preferred UO and that guild gave me a PvP taste.
When factions came out I was hooked and didn't want to do anything else. Sadly, we all know what happened there...
I quit for a bit after going to college and came back for the AoS launch... on some level I think I regret this decision because ultimately I got back into the game and became way more invested. Item hunting as a means to PvP still frustrates me, though I guess Imbuing now is supposed to alleviate that... still miss the days of throwing on a GM leather suit and running out to find some PvP.
Stumbled across EasyUO looking for more 8x8 information, back when most people did it manually. Since I had no desire to rebuild a crafter having done so from scratch on my original account, EasyUO was very enticing. I even printed the entire manual thinking I would read it and start doing my own scripts because at the time I was a programming major. About a semester later I realized I could never program for a living, not because I was doing poorly in my classes, but because I was bored as *bleep*.
After earning a bachelor's in Philosophy I joined the Marine Corps and really didn't have time to play... plus I'm sure my ping would have been wretched halfway across the world. But I kept my account active and paid... for some reason. I guess I couldn't bring myself to just throw it all away. Now that I'm back stateside I decided to see what was going on and although I haven't officially decided if I'm going to keep playing ... I can already tell I have the bug to do some PvP again ... still hate having to harvest items though.
Most people find me quite humorous ... though I'll admit my humor is based largely around sarcasm and playful jest. Please do not take offense - if my demeanor bothers you, please, let me know.

I'm not a fan of those bannable names. If a name makes it through the character creation process then that character should be free and clear.
Burden should be on the EA/DEVs to filter inappropriate names at the time of character creation. It seems absurd to me to ban players for something that went through their system.
