Hello. My name is James. I am a long time member here but have never posted.
I made an account on the forums in 2012 and ended up taking a break from UO, thus never posting an appropriate introduction.
My UO Career:
I have played UO on and off for several years. I started in about 2003 on OSI but I have mostly played free shards. I was really busy IRL during that time and didn't have the time to put forward to gaming. Like most people, I kept playing on and off but quickly went to free shards and tried most of them. Some were fun, while others had far too much corruption, customization, and favoritism which lost the UO feel for me.
Currently, I have more free time and have settled down a bit and really enjoy gaming sessions. I am ramping up on OSI Atlantic due to many free servers simply not having the numbers. I think the community makes UO and playing a server with 30 people online doesn't give the true experience of what UO can be.
I enjoy the freedom UO gives. The graphics don't bother me too much and I like the openness of the game mechanics. I often think the game is for two types of people: Smart People, and Grinders.
Currently on Atlantic, I run a sampire with 120 Swords and GM Parry/Bushido/Tactics/Anatomy/Necro along with 70 chiv and 30 SS for curse weapon. Also, training a disarm archer to try to get some PVP action.
This community interests me because for years I have played UO the hard way (or maybe the stupid way?). Excessive clicking to train, always forgetting to bandage, and never seeming to have enough resources and nearly going blind training crafting skills from staring at my laptop scree. I am not very good with a computer but I thought I would stop by and introduce myself to the forum. Also, to say thanks for the countless hours people have put in to make this game easier.
Thank you,
James
