Multi-Client Issues

I routinely run multiple clients since TT gave me a tutorial a while back.  I have noticed though that after a while, I stop being able to connect with a second client on a computer.  I can pull up the second client, but it won't connect to a production server.

I have three computers at my desk I noticed the problem when I could no longer multi client with my laptop, and then more recently when I couldn't do it with my older desktop.  I can still multi on my new desktop that I bought to be a server, but it crashes that system if I go over four clients.

I don't know if anyone else has run into this issue before and might have some insight for me.

I've never had issues where I couldn't connect from multiple clients. The crashing issue though really isn't unusualy if you consider that client.exe is a TERRIBLE CPU hog. Firing up a single client hammers the proc, fire up many and buh-bye!!

The system I have been crashing has 12G of ram, but only one processor.  Its a quad core I7. I am still trying to figure out if my crashes are related to a hardware conflict, but they seem to mostly happen when I have more than four clients open at once.  Mass sent me a bunch of material to work though to troubleshoot with and I am not through it all yet.

Not sure what vm's you're using, but the win7/vista ones can eat up a lot of disk space REALLY quickly...  is that your problem?  Has the been checked?

I am not using any VMs, I have just been using the "UOXL NEW" tab in EUO to open a new client. As Cerv mentioned, it just started popping up a menu that says "multi client is unsupported," the that has not made a difference in the problem I have had.

I guess there are actually two problems.  On the machine I can use multi client on, it locks up if I go over four. that may be just the CPU getting overwhelmed.

Problem Two: on two other machines, I simply can open another client using the UOXL New tab, but that second client can't connect to the OSI server.  I was wondering whether anyone had some insight into this problem.

Paul...I dont know the fix for this, but there is one and I know who knows it. Try sending UOMaddog a PM and I am sure he can tell you what you need to do to fix it.

Watch your CPU usage, and try to minimize time spent at the LOGIN screen. AKA don't pop open four clients and then try to log your dudes in, pop them open one at a time and log them in, Trust me.... Its just the Login SCreen and the DIsconnect screen that SUPER NUBBIFY your Cpu Usage.

Couple of updates:

1. I have figured out what was causing the multi-client issue, it was razor. I am not sure of the details, but recently realized that the crapping out of my ability to multi client using the button on EUO coincided with installing razor.  I tried to open a second client using razor and it works on both systems that were not working.

2.  I am still stumped with the lock ups when I open more than four clients on my new machine. I watched utilization for half an hour yesterday with four clients running and it was about 1% of CPU capacity and 10% of memory capacity. I am going to try opening a fifth today and watch what it does.

MWinc, when you open a bunch of clients on a single machine do you use razor or EUO? I wonder if there is an EUO issue that becomes a problem when you open too many.

Other than the potential for coincidental timing, why do you think Razor was causing the problem? Sounds to me like Razor actually gave you a workaround. TBH, the Razor method is better IMO anyhow since you now have the ability to use a Razor instance for every client you run.

Unfortunately I have no experience with more than 3 clients at the same time with either UOXL or Razor so I'm no help there. Anything more than that has always been in virtual machines.

Paulonius, I sent you a PM. If you're still having issues, just reply back and I'll see what else I can figure out!
