Personally, I totally agree with OEUO as a replacement for EUO, but only when it's ready.  IMHO, it's just not ready yet.

Not a huge surprise on the results so far.  not only is it not ready, he went back on his word.  All a person has in this life is his word.   :(

The thing is, he keeps saying that OEUO could be done in 2-4 weeks....if thats true, then why didnt he go about this in a different way?? EVERYBODY knew when the new expansion was being talked about. and Beta tested, that it would require a patch to implament...why didnt cheffe say back then, WEEKS ago, that he was going to pull the plug on EUO 1.5 then????? He could have made an announcment 6 weeks ago that he was no longer going to support 1.5 as of the "pirate patch"...he would then have given a FAIR warning, and would have had a LOT of people jump on his little wagon to help get OEAU ready to go when this patch went live.

Persoanlly I think cheffe is just being a complete dick about this! His little power play!

I think maybe waiting a little bit longer would of been better with EUO, for instance patching for the pirate expansion, but all in all I'm excited to be learning a new scripting tool, especially one with more capabilities. Some of my old scripts were impressive, but they were all limited by the capabilities of EUO itself, and I hit that plateau in several of my scripts.

Maybe if he had a basis set up for his OEUO then yes.. he should have had his emulator done already before causing people to convert over.  It took how many years for people to learn the right way to script in EUO *still learning even as it is* let alone for him to make the choice to go over to what i consider a horrible scripting language...

Should have given people lots of notice. It was a power play holding everyone hostage. I think it actually will kill what he wanted to do. No one will ever trust him again. I see either his program cracked or another one using same language up and running in a month.

TM, you're a smart cookie, why don't you lend a hand to him? I'm sure he would gladly welcome the help?

Cheffe IS ultima online in more ways than imaginable. He gave people YEARS of notice, and people drug their feet.  How can you honestly say no one will trust him?  I find all of these ridiculous opinions/rants/statements to be so ungrateful it's disgusting.

There should not be an emulator? Why would you need an emulator? OEUO allows you to write everything in a better/faster/betterx2 fashion.. your scripting and ease of scripting just got multiplied by 10000.

Like you said Manwinc, exactly what you said : "they were limited by the capabilities of EUO itself"

TopTwo I just am getting such a horrid opinion of you from your posts on this matter hehe, but I have a feeling you haven't been around in exploiting/scripting circles for any real amount of time/at all. So I guess that's to be expected.

_C2_ again, absolutely rediculous lol.  You were at HYG and stuff too, you're not a new cat... to say those things about Cheffe is appauling. You people lol.  Cheffe's done more for this game then any of US, myself included x10.

Way to talk *bleep* on the guy who gave you everything you wanted for years for free and now is just asking for help.

This is why there are different levels of socialism, and of people in general. This is a beautiful example of where people fall based on mindset and depth :)

You obviously don't know me as well as you may think.  I don't even know what HYG is out side of a bug site or group of players that were good with bugs.  Never claimed I or anyone did more than Cheffe.  That guy kept me playing uo for years and I actually thanked him for it in the slam cheffe thread over there.  I am a man of my word and have high expectations for others.  In my line of work, I would lose my job if I wasn't transparent about up coming events.  Then again, it is not his job.  He has every right to do what he wants with his ball.  It is just a little classier when you set deadlines instead of massive position swings.

I am perfectly entitled to appreciate the product we had for years and be unhappy with the snap of a finger change.  There were smarter ways to motivate folks.  Oh well.

Actually cb, I could honestly care less about your opinion of me. I asked cheffe why he did not bother to tell people that he was going to do a switch off on the next patch...we all knew a patch was coming for the pirate add-on. Cheffe's answer to that was to say he hasnt payed attention to the game in a LONG time and had no idea about a patch. I call bullshit on that....and if it isnt bullship then why does cheffe care so much about dropping 1.5 and rolling out oeuo if he hasnt even played the game for years???

If you look, you will see a timeline...Cheffe tells somebody to use 1.5 cuz oeuo isnt ready for months and he dont want to help newbs..

Cheffe cries cuz he has 2 years into a program nobody asked for and he isnt getting the sensitivity he "deserves" and turns off 1.5

Cheffe "listens" (bullship) to all the people that posts up, takes his ball and goes home...tells everybody if they wont embrase HIS project then go ahead and quit.

I am wondering if you are forwarding all these posts to cheffe..cuz it seems you have your lips firmly planted on cheffes arse with your defending him the way you are.

The gist of all the posts and complaints is simply Cheffe (like usual) screwed over his "fanbase" and could care less about it...either do it cheffes way, or dont do it...well, it is his site, he has the option to say that, and to keep out anybody he wants, but people dont have to like the way he did it, or have to like the "primmadonna" himself.

You say he gave people years of notice...yep..he gave them years to embrace a program that NOBODY but cheffe wanted. It was his choice to, as he says, spend 2 years of his life on a progran that nobody was embracing then, or now. Like I said, his site, his choice on how he does stuff. I actually could care less....I was doing things by hand BEFORE I found this site, and I will do things by hand AFTER cheffe takes his site down....I just think he is a total PUTZ cause of the way he did things, and nothing you say will ever change my mind!

I agree with him. OEUO is much faster, more powerful and flexible, and LUA is an established language.

What I don't agree with is to cut support for EUO before OEUO is even nearly as feature complete. If OEUO was already as capable as EUO, no problem. But it isn't, it's missing MAJOR features still, and that's just no good. We're going to lose a lot of people this way.
