Yeah, I know, but I was looking for max luck suit stuff and this page came in #1 in Google... so I updated what I had to add :)

I'll watch the dates more closely!

I spent about 30 minutes on TC.  Hope this helps someone.

1) Create normal exceptional leather armor piece with normal tool
2) Use horned kit to reforge one name ("Auspicious/Fortune").  Cannot choose 'Powerful Reforging', or else the Fortune selection goes away

This will net you a 150 luck piece.  Then

3) Imbue your resists/mods
4) Use your Forged Metal Tool to enhance with Spined to bring it to 190

I have *not* done this in production yet, since I don't have the metal tool :)

Also interested in testing out:
a) enhancement success rates with ancient smithy hammers
b) whether a talisman impacts the success rates

*another update* to the thread re: Max luck

- Minax Sandals give more luck(150) than Soles of Providence(80) in the foot slot(but will run you 50m on OSI)
- Leather baseline is 2/4/3/3/3, ideally two of those remain baseline when it's exceptional(1 in 1000 do vs 1 in 40 or so with 1 baseline)
- Do not use powerful reforging because if it's brittle you're not able to PoF it
- Hope that the reforge drops 150 luck + resists only on that resist type so that no exceptional points are wasted
- If your reforge drops 150 luck with the rest on 1 resist, which is the one that was baseline, you've got a nice piece
- If your reforge drops 150 luck with the rest on a resist that already had some bonus pts to it from exception, it's not going to be optimal
- If your reforge drops 150 luck with resists in two categories toss the piece or use it as filler on a lesser suit, not enough imbue slots left
- 140+ luck means a metal tool of artifacts is absolutely required to raise it 40 luck more, otherwise it breaks 100% of the time
- Don't make the initial items until you have 100 arms lore or you'll miss out on 5 resist per piece(1 for each 20 skill)
- Above all else: DO NOT FORGET TO PoF after reforging but before you imbue! You'll swear out loud every time if you forget!

If you get into making a max luck suit expect to have to make a few extra pieces because the resists won't mesh right away unless you're very lucky. Start by making the chest piece because it's the most expensive material-wise, you want to be making gloves last because it will take time to make the perfect piece with the empty resists in the right slots.

A max luck suit, with all artifacts, will easily cost your hundreds of millions and can fetch 450-500 million at sale so don't be thinking you can set up a shop and sell on vendors, at least not with the artifacts. You'll need to build up your suit building rep a bit and if you try and sneak in a few non-optimal pieces you'll lose it fast. Players wanting max everything notice every single point on the suit, lol.

Use the metal of artifacts wisely, the thing costs the equivalent of 500m gold from the origin store for 10 charges and you're going to need 6-7 charges on one suit. Right now the "sweet spot" is making suits that hit 1800 luck but not much more since these can be sold for 175m (max possible on vendor) and can be made for a more reasonable cost.

- The head slot: People prefer a circlet over the leather head piece
- The chest slot: People prefer armor of fortune over player crafted for 10 extra luck(bleh)
- The neck slot: People prefer the 300 luck mempo over a crafted piece, it costs 50m+ on OSI
- Leg, arm and hand slots are almost exclusively player crafted, work on these if you want to sell individual pieces and not suits
- Use your cleanup pts on Etoile Bleue / Novo Bleue if you'll be making suits for others regularly
- Conjurer's garb is the most popular robe but keep an eye out for the hooded robe bearing the crest of blackthorn, it has the same stats
- Minax sandals will also run you 50m, soles of providence are good enough for all but the elite suits
- Don't forget the lucky charm talisman(150 luck) and make blacksmith weapons/shield to compliment the suit, caster friendly of course!

Just dumping more info here... I re-visit it from time to time when I get crafting and info seems to vanish from online in other places without warning  :'(

Gemviper, thanks so much for this info.  Question - what's the collective wisdom on what should be imbued into the armor, assuming that the pieces are good?

Thanks

You're welcome Gimlet.

Erwin, that depends entirely on what type of suit you are making. If your goal is to use the suit then see what corners you can cut using items you already own to keep the cost from reaching "insane", and the tedium of making it too. If your goal is to sell it then consider the standard caster tamer suit first and focus on luck, cap resists, LMC, 2/6 casting, 100% LRC, Int and whatever leftover you can manage also into the casting stats.

Tip: Opt for epaulettes and a quiver over a robe and cloak when you can, people like to bank-sit in their luck suits, it's a tamer thing.

Getting the base pieces right will be the most time consuming, by far. I've been making base pieces for 3 hours straight and so far I have 1 piece out of a few thousand made. Expect to make 1-2k, or many more if you are unlucky, parts before landing on a leather part that is exceptional but has two resists still at base value, they are rare. You could, of course, make them with only 1 resist value still at minimum but you then have only a 20% chance that your resist attribute will land on it, and that's assuming it's 150 luck + all extra weight into one resist and not two. With two base resists the chance is 40% and you have wiggle room for a solid suit.

Here's an example of a suit that just went for the 150 luck base pieces(190 after metal of artifacts) but didn't worry too much about using the best possible base pieces so that no bonus resists (exceptional + 5 more from arms lore) were wasted during imbue - http://www.uoforums.com/topic/54003-high-end-mage-luck-suit-for-sale/

She asked for 250m with a 400m buyout and it sold, you can see the stats it had in the pictures.

If you don't understand what I mean by wasted resists... a base leather piece has 2/4/3/3/3 resists. When you make it exceptional it will receive extra resist value distributed randomly. Arms lore will give it another 5 pts of resist randomly as well. A good piece will end up with all of that bonus resist on 3 of the resist types, not 4 or 5, so it might be 2/8/3/11/11. Notice the physical and cold resist values are still baseline, nothing landed on them.

That matters during imbue. If you want to imbue the maximum possible physical resist, for example, then 100% of the imbue weight will be added to phys resist and none is wasted. If, on the other hand, you try and imbue poison resist on that same piece to maximum it will reach 18 but since it's starting out at 11 and not 3 then 8 total resist will be lost on the piece. This is, assuming you managed to get 150 luck in the first place which isn't guaranteed, lol.

- Thousands of tries to get a good base candidate
- a 40% chance it reforges with resist in the right slot
- a chance you don't get 150 luck and end up with 140 luck + double resists
- you need to make a full suit so all of the above has to mesh with other similar awesome pieces, which is not guaranteed...

Max luck suits are not easy!

edit: there are other ways to get a 150 luck item before using the metal of artifacts, including just burning runics and not reforging, but they tend to be more expensive with inferior results. You are either trying for the ultimate suit or shouldn't bother yourself too much with perfection, it's going to cost you a fortune to attain.

A faster way that burns more runics, just craft leather items so that only one of the base resists(2/4/3/3/3) remains after you create an exceptional version. If you reforge and get 150 luck with +15 to one resist only, congrats. You'll either have a nice piece with two imbue slots or, if the resists landed on the type that was still base value, a nicer piece with three imbue slots left. Those are the only ones you'll probably want to use a metal of artifacts tool on. Make sure you use spined leather with the tool for the extra resists + 40 luck.

Just scratching the surface, but glad you found some useful info.

Tip: when making the weapon/shield you need to set a copper runic to...
- Powerful reforging
- Grand artifice
- Inspire artifice
- Auspicious/Fortune package

4 pts in total, you can't get the 150 luck if you also assign exalted/sublime because of the min/max value chart in the system, you'll end up with a lost imbue slot if you do and no more than 140 luck. Use the weapon to imbue spell channeling and whatever resist needed to finish the 70/70/70/70/75 suit.

Is anyone else making wicked suits out there? I have less experience with a sampy suit, not sure which settings to use on which tools for best results just yet.
