Scripting Chat / Re: namespace question
« on: April 29, 2009, 11:09:33 PM »
TM, this thread reminded me to ask/suggest this:

Is it possible for SUO to have a section that could show the current user/namespace/persistent variables in the script similar to how EUO gives the values of all the system variables. Mainly, I just want to make sure I get my comma's and dot's correct with scripts (since I believe I'm going to start using them more now), so it would be nice to see that  "set %test * , tapsoeri . sfdvoi , adfopij . #caoisjadr" is actually the value I want (if you can't tell, I made that variable up off the top of my head lol)

yea i'm just barely at the point where i understand how journal scanning works...luckily with my script, i can handle it all fine just using #jindex but it still seems like a stupid way to do it...maybe TM can change journal scanning in script uo!  ;)

Resource Extraction / Re: When do resources get randomized...
« on: April 28, 2009, 02:23:03 PM »
LoL, though my experience with UO programmers is that they don't have a friggin clue. So I honestly don't think they would think it through that well. It's probably a mish-mash of codes snippets that sometimes work! That's what I've come to expect from UO programmers/developers!

Right now i'm in the final stages of speeding up and reducing crashes on my Maddog Medic script. I will probably release it to the general public shortly!

I think I'm with XII on this one. Based on general knowledge of UO programmers, it would seem likely that they would have the ore spots refresh every 5-20 mins REGARDLESS of whether or not they have been mined. #1 because it would be easier for them to program, #2 because no one would know because we have no way of knowing what's in a spot UNLESS we mine it!

I use Virtual PC 2007 mainly. Right now I run Windows XP 64-bit as my main operating system. Then I use Virtual PC to run a Windows 7 beta, Windows Vista, Ubuntu, and Fedora. It just sucks that you can only use the 32-bit version in VPC. I would love to play around with 64-bit version of Ubuntu and Fedora on there, but oh well!

UOMaddogs' Script Library / Script Usage Rules/Guidelines
« on: April 24, 2009, 07:15:59 AM »
As with most other scripts, please observe the following guidelines:

#1. Please leave feedback. Both positive and negative is welcome. Scripters will not always know if the script is broken unless someone tells them! That being said, please read the threads thoroughly to make sure your question has not already be answered (SEARCH is your FRIEND!) Clearly state any issues you were having with the script including what happened, what you were doing, and outstanding circumstances that may have caused it (like being on 56k dialup!), and any steps you took to attempt to resolve the issue.

#2. All scripts are the copyright protected work of the author. Please do not redistribute the script without the author's consent or unless otherwise stated. When telling friends/guildmates about scripts, please refer them to the site instead of sending the file yourself. This protects both you (for copyright infringement) and them (for getting a virus-infected script).

#3. I always recommend that you do not use scripts while being completely AFK. Especially with the taming script, many people run through that area and are known to page GM's! So please be cautious about where, what time, and on what shard you are using the script!

Off Topic / Re: Need Recommendations on a 24"+ monitor...
« on: April 24, 2009, 07:05:02 AM »
When I built my desktop back in the fall, I splurged on a GORGEOUS Dell 22" SP2208WFP monitor. HDMI, DVI, VGA, Stereo Audio in/out and a 4-port USB hub built into the monitor. It's soooo much better looking sitting next to my 19" Asus LCD. I would always recommend getting an excellent monitor because "Hey! You gotta stare at it all the time!" LoL!

Here's my theory when it comes to scripting:

In the time it takes to work a skill manually, you could write a whole script and never have to manually train it again.

In your case, in the time it takes to go get rezed, dressed, and run back each time you die because you mis-timed your steals, you could write a 10 line script and never have to worry about it again!
