Saying Goodbye

So it is with heavy hearts we are going to have to let Rebirthuo go. This whole 2017 year we have seen such little player base that it is no longer a viable shard for the foreseeable future.



We have made many strides and have brought alot of content to the server but still was unable to maintain a player base beyond a few players. Donation funded time ran out months ago and it costs well over $80/month just to maintain the shard and not do anything to improve it. We were never in it for the donations but they were a factor in keeping it alive.



This week we also lost another staff member who was crucial in our running of the server. TrailMyx is bowing out of the UO scene and at this juncture we do not blame him. He has been around for a long while and was a staple in the scripting community.



Another factor we considered was that UO is going F2P. We love UO and love OSI and that was a reason we built Rebirthuo to try to emulate OSI as close as possible. This also created many frustrations on our part and made it more difficult.



As of November 30 the server will be shut down. The forum will remain until the URL gives up as it will not be renewed.



I know many of you have put many hours into this game, but realize it was not more than Pure put into it. We are sad to see this come but we discussed it at length and feel this is best for everyone.

New Wiki

We like to introduce our new wiki at https://gitlab.com/Crome696/RebirthUO/wikis/home.



Like we did with our issue tracker, we moved our wiki to our source. This allows us to also refer from source to issues to wiki and vis versa.



As you might see, our wiki is still a little empty. If you want to support us, write us an article as issue (https://gitlab.com/Crome696/RebirthUO/issues) with Wiki Resource <Name> as title. A staff member will review your post and clone it towards wiki with reference to the issue ticket and giving the author credits.



As syntax for design, issues and wiki use markdown (https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/markdown.html). Here a user already have the chance to format and design the entry before we add it to wiki. It also allows to update articles by reopen the issue and requesting an update.



You have a specific article you want to know more about? Write us a wiki request, we might will add it to wiki.

INGAME ISSUE TRACKER

What is the ingame Issue Tracker?



The ingame tracker system has been developed in order to allow players to send quick bug reports. For larger texts or attachments you should use https://gitlab.com/Crome696/RebirthUO/issues. As you might notice, we move our tracking system from Mantis to Gitlab. The reason behind is simple, its closer to our source and allow developers to react with our source together (linked issues, automated states on reactions via sourcecode).



What is Gitlab?



Gitlab is a website to host IT-Projects in the internet. They provide tools to control versions towards small and middle sized teams (GIT-Protocol) and allows it to maintain projects. Together with the source code management it also provides a bug tracker system and a wiki. In open source projects, it allows developer and consumer to spread the source, maintain issues and write documentation about the project. RebirthUO itself is a closed source project, that has been hosted on gitlab. In the past whenever a player added a report on Mantis, we pushed the update through gitlab and gave a documentation back to our tracker system. While RebirthUO itself evolves as project, we as developers also obtain more experience to handle such project. After reviewing our current system, I (Pure) decided, that it would be better, if source, issues and documentation would be at same location. So it were decided, to design a workflow for future. The result is our new ingame tracker system.



How can i report issues?



We introduced a new command [reportissue .

This command will launch our service and displays a gump.

Name of player, account, location and date will be automaticly generated and can´t be overwritten. Player only can add a title and a description. After agreeing to our terms of usage a report can be send. A new small gump will appear and tell player to wait until report has been send.

After sending the report, the user will get a reply if the report has been send or not. In case an error appears, the report gump filled with all data will appear again. In this case write us a help ticket please!



What data will be send?



The service provides following meta data:


  • Title

Champion Spawn Update!!

As our players asked, we decreased the amount to kill on champion spawn waves temporarly.



Wave 1 :

Before : 256 Kills

Now : 204 Kills



Wave 2:

Before : 128 Kills

Now : 114 Kills



Other levels remains as before.



If the spawn range is still too dull on certain areas, ask the GM of your choice @TrailMyx to help you to adjust the area a bit. Depending on the area we might change it.
