New member introductions / Once again, back to UO!

Hello all!

So in 96 or 97 PC Gamer had a preview for Ultima Online.  Being 12 or so, I had no clue what was really being discussed, I just knew I wanted to play it.  I managed to lie my way into the beta (I'm an adult, really!) and when the time came, managed to beg my parents into picking me up a copy.

I was absolute garbage at this game.  I think the hardest mob I ever killed as a warrior was a lich.  Lich Lords, Demons, Dragons anything like that would rip me apart.  But it just didn't ever matter.  I was hooked.  I loved the game.  I loved wandering around with friends, with older folks who tended to look out for me, with the RP community (I was bad at that too...).  The only thing I was ever any good at was crafting, thievery and making money.  I think three or so years into it I finally decided I had to get a bit better at combat, and my friends helped me out with that, which completely changed the game for me.  I ended up leaving a year or so after that, and more than a few server birth rares and seer quest items were lost in a "definitely quitting" character deletion.  Sorry Pac!  I didn't mean to take your chessmen!  :-X

Anyways, fast forward, I'm now 27 and a SSgt in the US Air Force (joined late) working as a mandarin linguist.  I'm married to a beautiful woman who is pregnant with our second (a boy!) and proud father of my 16 month old daughter who is, I assure you, completely adorable.  I've been playing various other MMOs at the highest tiers of pvp and pve, having a grand old time of it...until I realized I just didn't care anymore.  I'd stopped having fun in those games about a year and a half ago and was mostly playing for the endorsements and the "epeen" which just...doesn't matter.  In any form.

I've been reminiscing about UO for some time, and while the game has changed dramatically, its still very fun and I'm enjoying my return to Pac!  Hope to get some more players back!
