Real longtime friendships formed through mmorpgs.

Anyone else have a story of a real long time friendship and or relationship that has been formed through an mmorpg or other sort of online stuff?

I made some really good friends back in my Everquest days, by getting drunk one night and spouting my home phone number off in guild chat to see if anyone would call.  Low and behold like 5 people called lol!

Og all those people that I was now friends with through the phone too, I still have 3 in my life 6 years after, wonderful friends.

Anyone else?

When AOL came out, I met a guy on there, and we were insta friends. Then we changed our screen names a few times and lost touch, and then we found eachother again.

Now, like 10+ years later, we still talk on the phone occasionally. *mumbles to self* Should send him a myspace. I'm afraid TT scared him away BIG TIME!

When I started going to college the first time I moved into the city and got
"Cable" Internet. I started looking around for guilds on baja, applying to all the ones I remembered from the old days. Finally one day when going to try and do a dreadhorn I stumbled across what has been my guild every since (4 years ago), we all text each other, hang out in vent, I have very few people I hang out with or talk to irl (I'm a hermit and live in the woods), so more or lessly my guild is 80% of my friends,

OF Course Now I have you guys as well :)

I met a dude about my age who we just pvped with a lot together.  We always stuck together in UO & one day I was telling him about all my cars & how much I love working on em and building engines etc.  He offered me his car for $2000 (Didn't run) and I declined.  A year later he offered $500 for it & a few weeks later I drove about 10 hours and met him to buy it!  I ended up staying a few days & hung out w/ him & his GF.  He quit UO and we always stayed in touch till he came back.  He recently came back & got mad because he died while pvping (ran off on his own like a rambo) & haven't heard from him in a month or two.  Wierd!

About 8 years ago (I was like 17 going on 18 or so?) I knew a lady from other Ultima web forums.  She played the same shard so we did things every so often.  Every so often she would ask if I've seen her daughter and show me her recent picture to see if I was interested (lol).  One day I found out I had a week to find somewhere to stay and she offered me to move in with their family but I declined.  I lived in my car a bit till I got things sorted out.  I came back to UO 2 years ago & met this girl who a friend & I always messed with.  One day my friend went too far (My friend was a chick, I found out later she was crazy about me and it explains it all!) and really hurt her feelings.  I guess the other wanted the other to hate me lol.  So I ICQed her & apologized for my friends actions etc. and that she isn't serious and just likes to get people worked up.  Well we started talking every day & became super good friends.  One day at a holiday I was talking to her in UO and she was like OMG!  I was like what the...  She was like my mom wants to talk to you!!  WHAT?!  lol..  So I say something stupid like is she hot?!  It ended up being the lady from like 7 years ago, it was her mother the whole time haha.  Well her mother told her the story and everything it was pretty funny.  We stayed real good friends after that.  There were times where she would call me because her husband wasen't home & they she didn't feel comfortable where she lived & I'd just talk while we play uo and stuff so she would stop thinking that some murderer or something crazy would happen lol.  We're really not friends anymore unfortunatly.  It's a long story but let's just say people take this game way too serious.  Part of it was her guild was upset that she was my friend to the point they stopped trusting her & judged her based upon our friendship.  Her husband got jealous at times if we were talking on ICQ or something.  That with crazy other things made me decide it was best to put the friendship behing & forget.

Other than that that's about it!

um... Me and My Cousin (Who started me on UO) started a guild together back in 98.  we became a huge non pvp guild built characters together, dungeon crawled in that.. we built lots of relationships with tons of people across the map... every time someone was making a connection flight into Chicago we got a phone call. so we'd head up to O'hare which was only like a 20 min drive we'd have a drink or two with them and off they went.  one time we where able to get 5 other guild mates here in Chicago at the same time. along with the 4-5 of us that already lived in the area and we planned a huge night at Medieval Times! I got the group picture some where (Unless my wife threw it out, Ex Girlfriend was part of the guild)  we are still on contact with a few of them.. but its been a while since I've heard from any of them....

When I first started playing on Pac forever ago i met a guy at luna bank.  Didn't have a clue what I was doing, had all skills checked to go up.  He explained the game to me and gave me tips on character templates and even showed my uo.stratics.  We ran around together and I eventually joined a pvm guild with him.  If it wasn't for him I prolly would have quit years ago just because I didn't know what i was doin.  Then theres Cerveza and krippy I met through a pvp guild years ago.  I consider them long time friends.   :D

Thru UO I have met ALOT of people. There is a very close knit group of us that still talk daily even though we dont play together anymore. We know each others personal lives. 2 Years ago a couple that we met in game came and spent a long weekend with me and my family. Was cool as hell  :)
