Cascade of System Error 5

When I open up a second EUO, I get a cascade of error 5 messages. I think it may have something to do with a power outage that happened over the weekend during a big storm. Not sure what is wrong.  Permissions all appear to be in order.
This coin declares Caesar is "Dictator for Life." He did serve as Dictator for the remainder of his life, but his life would end only a few weeks after this issue. For Caesar to put his image on coins and essentially declare himself king was too much for Brutus and his republican allies.

Have you tried deleting it and downloading the newest version again?  See if maybe it was a hard drive error or something when the power went out?  I've had something similar happen but not system error 5...

I reverted my system to just before the crash, updated Windows 7, erased the EUX file and redownloaded the newest version.  Working fine now. Thanks Twinkle McNugget.

Ooh, there it is again.  I was able to get two iterations of EUO up running on two different clients before it popped up again this time.

The message is "System Error: 5" and it comes up in a little box about 50 times a minute, leaving a trail of them until I stop it and close them all.

Some people have been reporting lots of problems running 2 clients.  I can't say I have that problem. :)

I have never had a problem on this system.  Appears to be some sort of network sharing issue that has cropped up.

Very strange. I moved all of the UO files off of the system, deleted them all, replaced them all. Downloaded a fresh EUO.  Still get a bunch of errors whenever I open a new EUO iteration.

I got this same error earlier today as well, after closing UO to re-open it with UOAssist, although I don't know if the errors occured before closing UO or while the patching screen was loading, with about a dozen windows cascading from the middle of the screen.  I currently have 4 clients running and haven't seen this error since restarting UO.  I will watch for it and let you know the circumstances under which it happened.

Hate to say it, but it's probably a UO reload.

Every now and then I have some stupid problem with the client or associated files. Last two times it was corpses not falling over all the way. Yeah , I'd kill something and it's "death" animation would start, but not finish, so the monster would be half-falling and unlootable. The stat bar for it was just a blank grey one. It happened on my son's PC then months later on my main PC.

Luckily I had a copy of the entire UO directory on disc, so I just copied it over and patched up and all was good.

Can't stress enough how nice that was compared to a full load!

OK, here's what I've figured out so far (about what's causing the error on my end, not how to fix it, although I haven't had any problems from the error):

When I start UO with UOAssist, I get about 23 of the error messages cascading from the middle of the screen.  If I open UO though the client itself, there are no issues, nor are there any when opening an additional client with EUO.  Again, I haven't had any problems from the error messages, as I just close them and continue on (although I don't know if closing them is even necessary).

His Majesty, Lord Cheffe has taken a moment to address the peons regarding this issue.

Quote from: Potentate Cheffe
Btw: Found the error 5 problem. Will be fixed in next release.

Doesn't it seem like he's bothered with the problems in his project like a horse is bothered by flies? If it's that big of a deal Cheffe, give it to someone who actually cares.

I actually have been able to duplicate the problem but only when I open regedit. If I have EUO running and run regedit I get the cascade of error 5 issues (access denied).

Fortunately I've only needed to do this while testing TM's new bitchin' file system subs and getting them integrated into the XIIx Miner 3.0.

Anyhoo...

It's not unique to opening UO-related programs.  I get it when I open adobe, starcraft II, etc etc.
