That's kinda why we leave it up to the individuals visiting here. This is a part-time passion for most of us who run the site, and have to filter the leeches from the good potential community members. Note that there are over 3200 registered users, and around 1/2 of those are still restricted and they are probably still restricted due to failed attempts at introductions. The first couple 100 failed intros were pretty easy to let slide, but after a while it gets kinda annoying to constantly remind people of the rules and trying to explain how it works around here.
So if people want to participate in a positive way, the rules are very spelled out. You can't really blame the staff with their reactions; I just have a bit more patience than others. Plus, most of the staff are grumpy old farts as most of use are over 40, and even some are over 50. So going forward, we'll continue to have little patience with those who want one post access for leeching purposes. It's the only passe-partout we have.
However, if you read through this site carefully, you'll notice that those who put in the effort are treated with utmost respect.
So what made you decided on going directly to RunUO without playing Live? There's quite a few freeshards out there running on RunUO, but they vary so greatly with regards to content. You should hop onto one or two to see how varying they are. With the different PvM and PvP aspects possible, it would be great to see how others implement.
